ADA Updates
Tuesday, December 20, 2011 The ADA Education Fund will host a diverse group of speakers to discuss the vital issue of Voter Suppression. These experts will deliberate on one of the most sacred and important rights of the American people: the right to vote. This right, once reserved for a narrow group of citizens, is now hypothetically enjoyed by all Americans. However recent state legislative actions have raised the specter of creeping disenfranchisement of whole groups of voters. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said yesterday in Texas, "We need election systems that are free from fraud, discrimination and partisan influence — and that are more, not less, accessible to the citizens of this country." The 2012 elections are less than a year away, and the right to vote could be critical to both the outcome and the confidence that Americans have in their elected leaders.
